HRSG, SCR Catalyst Retrofit |
Location:
|
Newark Bay Cogeneration, Newark, New Jersey |
Synopsis: This project
consisted of retrofitting SCR catalyst systems in each of two HRSG units located at Newark
Bay Cogeneration Partnership, Newark, New Jersey. Each HRSG is comprised of nine catalyst
frames containing ten catalyst modules. The existing frames would be reused and modified
to except new catalyst modules as manufactured by Cormetech Environmental Technologies,
Inc. Bremco, Inc. would be responsible for construction management and supervision
coordinating the necessary craft trades, equipment, tooling, and subcontracting.SCR (Selective Calalytic Reduction) technology involves the catalytic
reaction of ammonia (NH3) which is injected into the flue gas containing NOx to produce
molecular nitrogen (N2) and water vapor. These reactions take place in the SCR reactor
section of the HRSG.

Replace SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)
within Heat Recovery Steam Generator.

SCR Catalyst Retrofit
- Supply all necessary subcontract crane and rigging services.
- Remove 5CR module top access panels located at top elevation of HRSG
unit.
Provide and install all necessary staging and sky climber units
within the HRSG inlet and outlet duct assemblies. Each unit is approximately fifty (50)
feet in elevation.
Remove nine (9) existing 5CR frame assemblies and locate in working
lay down area adjacent to each HRSG unit.
Remove and discard all existing catalyst modules from each frame
section and discard in environmentally controlled containers.
Modify each frame assembly as required to accept the new Cormetech
catalyst modules.
Install new catalyst modules into each frame assembly and reinstall
all catalyst frames within the framework of each HRSG unit.
